Coach Visokey on Bell Jeff

Once again our performance at the Bell-Jeff Invitational was outstanding (official results shown in the link). Our team time was the second fastest in the 21 year history of running at this Invitational only missing the 2002 team’s time by 27 seconds. However, please note that I was at the meet in 2002 and the temperature was in the low 60s, foggy, with a high humidity (perfect running conditions). We will take that time down next year. This year we broke the 82 minute barrier with a team time of 81:55.

Just about everyone ran faster than last year and those that didn’t either are coming off of an injury or ran when the temperature was hovering around or in the 90s. Temperature makes a huge difference. In the varsity there were outstanding performances by all seven runners, but I must highlight the performances of Ray Biggerstaff, Thomas Waters, and Andrew Starksen. Ray ran his third straight great performance with this being the best with a time of 16:15. Thomas beat his Bosco time by 20 seconds running a 16:11, and Andrew broke the 18 minute barrier for the first time with a 17:44. All three are personal bests. We finished 4th in the seeded race just barely losing to Pete Knight for the final trophy spot. Had we run in the regular varsity race we would have had 7 runners in the top 11. Our second varsity team finished 5th in the regular varsity race which I consider fantastic. Congratulations to our Varsity.

In the JV race we had great performances by John Crocker breaking his personal best by 2:17 running a 24:57, and Patrick Hagan running a personal best 24:23. The JV finished 5th out of 11 teams, and had to run in a temperature of 94 degrees. Congratulations to our JV team.

In His Service,

Coach Visokey
