Boys Division V (8:45)—Top seeded and defending champion St. Margaret’s (San Juan Capistrano) -- with Billy Gaudreau leading the way -- were the two biggest “locks” of the meet and it was very evident early on there would be no serious challengers. Defending champion Gaudreau along with teammates Paul Brenneman and Brandon Price were all in the top five at the mile before Gaudreau and Brenneman pulled away to finish one-two in 15:01 and 15:19. Gaudreau missed his personal best by just two seconds. Price was fifth at 15:49. St. Margaret’s finished with just 45 points and a team time of 79:01, which was just 12 seconds off its time of 78:49 in at the Mt. San Antonio Invitational that is the fastest ever on the Mt. SAC course for a Division V team. Chadwick, ranked fifth, won a closely contested battle for second with 136 points followed by third-ranked Flintridge Prep at 141 and fourth ranked Xavier Prep (Palm Desert) at 153. Second ranked Desert Christian (Lancaster) was sixth.
